Margaret Petterson Haddix visited Del Mar on Thursday, September 20th. In a gym packed with the entire student body, she spoke about how she developed the ideas for two of her popular series, "The Shadow Children" and the recent "Missing." It was great to find out how real life experiences sparked her imagination for both series. After her talk, Ms. Haddix answered many questions and then posed for pictures with students who were able to stay past the bell.
Many of Ms. Haddix's books are available here in the library. Two personalized copies of the newly published "Caught" are here too. Stop by to add your name to the hold list today! Thanks to Books, Inc. and the RUSD PTA for sponsoring this event.

He also shared his four-step method to creating a short story using memorable experiences from his own childhood. A fascinating part of the presentation was viewing covers of his his books from around the world.
